Personally I use a router from Mikrotik #Ad.

A nice feature which can be used on routers with a USB port and arm64 processors is the capability to run containers. So I am able to use Tailscale on my router.

Download the Tailscale package (check CPU architecture) and use “manual install”.

1 A security warning will show up during this process. 2 3 Installation is done and the service is running. 4

With the Synology Tailscale App the connection can get configured now.

If a self hosted Headscale Control Server is used you need to walk the extra mile and use the terminal. Activate SSH and connect to the Synology #Ad NAS via SSH and enter the following command:

1
tailscale up --login-server <YOUR_HEADSCALE_URL> --authkey <YOUR_AUTH_KEY>
